[zu griechisch kéras »Horn«], Geradhorn, ausgestorbene (Ordovizium bis Trias), in die Stammlinie der Perlboote gehörende Gattung der Nautiloidea (Kopffüßer) mit ursprünglicher, gerade gestreckter, spitz-kegelförmiger, bis 2 m langer Schale und engem, zentral gelegenem Sipho. Orthoceras gehört zu den Typusfossilien des Ordoviziums. Der paläozoische, v. a. aus dem schwedischen und baltischen Ordovizium bekannte Orthocerenkalk enthält außer Nautiloidea (auch Endoceras) v. a. Trilobiten.
